Generous Sponsors of the Jazz Crawl for Charity

The donation from the Jazz Crawl is made possible thanks to our generous sponsors and volunteers. Just about all the money we raise comes from ticket sales and the purchase of ‘Lagniappe Tokens’. The tokens, which are actually Mardi Gras doubloons, are used as currency for the sponsored cuisine, spirits, artwork and raffle.

The Jazz Crawl is entirely volunteer-driven. All the profits are used to purchase the donated instruments, but we aren’t currently registered as an official nonprofit organization.  Instead you could say we are something like a ‘nonprofit agent’. We build relationships with other nonprofits and schools that help us identify aspiring young students that could use some aid to expand their passion for music. A general donation is dedicated to one of our partnering schools or nonprofits and available for tax exemption.

PROHIBITION

  • 547 King St. Charleston, SC 29403

Prohibition has been our primary sponsor since year one when we only had a CD player to second line up and down King Street to. The event started and finished at Prohibition that year, and they have anchored it all three years. Their newly upgraded patio bar offers the perfect setting to end the event with a live band, creole buffet, and the best cocktails in Charleston. Prohibition was named the 2017 Best Downtown Bar in the Charleston City Paper, and we’re thankful for their support and encouragement since the Jazz Crawl was just an idea.

CHARLESTON KREWE

  • 363 King St. Charleston, SC 29401

Charleston Krewe is the sister brand and next phase of NOLA Couture, which was established in 2006 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The ideal and actualization of the brand emerged from the need to lift peoples spirits, and rebuild New Orleans’ local economy. Born in New Orleans, the company celebrates the city’s individuality through custom designs featuring iconic Crescent City motifs. We’re glad that Charleston Krewe opened their doors on historic King Street in 2015, because their brand and the spirit of their company is a perfect fit for the Jazz Crawl.

RICKEY CHARLES

  • 700 Decatur St. New Orleans, LA 70116

Rickey Charles is a highly respected Jackson Square artist in New Orleans. In 2013 he started the ‘Katrina Series’ of 1,836 pieces to commemorate the lives lost in Hurricane Katrina. A portion of all his proceeds are donated to Habitat for Humanity of New Orleans. Charles donated several prints of his artwork when he learned about the tribute to Aunt Patty and our celebration of New Orleans culture in Charleston. The style of his work and his generosity epitomizes the spirit of the Jazz Crawl.
